I realised recently that I never ended up posting pictures from my sister’s wonderful wedding last May. It was pretty much the most perfect wedding ever and I would be thrilled if mine were half as meaningful and romantic and gorgeous.
My favourite things about the wedding were all the little touches family and friends created to help make Sara’s wedding unique. Sara and Sarah (yep, those are their real names) spent ages sewing all kinds of bunting to hang around the venue and I made a little wreath to match!
My awesome uncles and Dad built a wedding bower for the girls to exchange their vows under and my Mom sewed a beautiful lace trimmed covering for it.
The girls decided to have a good wishes/marriage advice tree inside the venue for people to hang leaves with comments on and it turned into a beautiful decoration by the end of the day.
One part of the ceremony both Sara(h)s really wanted was a handfasting so all the guests were given a piece of ribbon in the wedding colours as they went through the receiving line. May I suggest that any other couples who decide to have this ensure that a pair of scissors are brought to the venue (trust me on this one).
There were about a million other handmade touches at the wedding including origami meal choice markers, pinwheels for every guest, and a homemade ribbon trimmed cake. It really was a perfect day. Note: my sister’s amazing wedding photos were done by London’s HRM Photography.
