Why the "Thimble Thief"?
I’ve always sort of loved thimbles. Peter Pan is one of my favourite books and the thimble kisses are so sweet. "Surely you know what a kiss is?" she asked, aghast. "I shall know when you give it to me," he replied stiffly, and not to hurt his feelings she gave him a thimble.
I want to make felt things too! Where do you get your supplies?
With the exception of vintage fabrics, which I hunt for at my local thrift store, I get pretty much all my crafting supplies from other Etsy sellers.
For all my felt needs I shop online at Benzie Bazaar who stocks lovely merino wool blend felt. For any further wool fabric needs (including an adorable assortment of houndstooth) I use Quilting Acres. Both ladies are wonderful sellers to deal with and very happily ship to Canada!
What kind of sewing machine do you use?
Funny thing about that…I don’t use a sewing machine (I think they’re a bit scary). All of my creations are 100% hand-sewn. Someday I might put on my bravery pants and approach one of those contraptions but until then I’ll continue to prick my fingers the old fashioned way.
What kind of camera do you use for your pictures?
Since starting the Thimble Thief I’ve used a number of different cameras but right now I take most of my photos with a Canon EOS Rebel T3 12.2MP DSLR Camera With 18-55mm Image Stabilized Lens. I also take a lot of blog photos with my BlackBerry and the InstaPhoto app.
