About Me

I’m Gracie, aka the Thimble Thief, aka Dace, Gracie-Pig, Gracie Goose, Pineapple, etc. (my family is big on nicknames) and this is my blog. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Canada, I now live about an hour away with my kick-ass fiancé Matt. He’s a genius who works in IT and gets angry that my go-to “fix” for any technology is to press all available buttons simultaneously. He’s pretty perfect. I love to make things (especially things made of felt, preferably with cheeks), take naps, and adopt my fiancé’s friends as imitation children until I get some of my own.

I studied History and Home Ec. for my undergraduate degree at a small Catholic all-ladies university. Since I was raised in an atheist household, this was my first exposure to organized religion and although I remain a steadfast atheist, I now adore nuns. I went on to get a Master’s degree in Public History and another one in Library Science. I really loved school (mostly because no one judged you for drinking at 11am on a weekday). I now work as a librarian at a financial company (living the dream!). Someday I would like to own a miniature farm full of tiny animals and dwarf apple trees because then I could feel like a giant.

Things I love:
  • Matt
  • the smell of lilac bushes
  • cucumber and tomato sandwiches
  • parades anyone can march in
  • night swimming
  • wild Canadian blueberries
  • blank notebooks
  • food cut diagonally
  • abandoned houses (ideally, haunted ones)

Things I don’t love:
  • getting lost in the woods
  • homophobia
  • mushrooms
  • water you can't swim in
  • the fact that snakes can swim
  • when old buildings get torn down
  • stepping near the edge of my bed in the dark

I’m so happy that you’ve stopped by and hope you’ll come back lots to see what I’m up to! Now we're friends!
